The church with its peculiar architectural type is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary and is located in the location “Sochora” in Meronas. It has two aisles, the southernmost aisle of which was built first in the 13th century. The northern one is a 15th-century addition and is dedicated to Saints Constantine and Helen, it does not have an arch in the east and is covered with a wide dome in its western part. The church has a sculptural decoration with elements of Gothic influence, which were introduced to Crete in the 16th century.
