It owes its name to the great discus thrower and coach Michalis Marakis from Amari while athletics competitions are organized every August in his memory. The &#8220;Mihalis Marakis&#8221; Municipal Stadium is the seat of the only sports club in the area and it is named &#8220;AO Psiloritis&#8221;.
